Located in the heart of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Hayman Island is the northernmost of the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland. Its exclusive hotel, The One & Only Hayman Island, is one of the world’s most beautiful and set in one of the most secluded locations possible. Within this private island resort, “stylish elegance reflects the harmony of nature with beautifully appointed accommodation set against the backdrop of the Coral Sea”.
With two pools – both with their own individual feel – and the gorgeous white sand beach to choose from, you can spend the day relaxing wherever you desire. Sip on cocktails in one of the in-water sunbeds or relax on the beanbag lilos…
Or if you fancy something slightly more upbeat, choose from any of the amazing watersports on offer at the beach and spend your day on the gorgeous turquoise water (all non-motorised watersports are included for all guests).
Another great activity to add to your itinerary is one of the scenic walks around the island, including the Whitsundays Lookout, Cook Lookout, Dolphin Point and Blue Pearl Bay (but if you’re wanting to snorkel at the last two, make sure you go at peak time for the tides).
The views are just incredible! And as well as being lucky enough to indulge in this luxury for six whole nights, I also ticked off one of the main things on my bucket list, that is to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef!
Accommodation on the resort ranges between the Hayman Wing, Pool Wing, Beach Wing and the Penthouses, each with their own ambience.
For private ‘swim-out’ access to the pool from the comfort of your own balcony and gorgeous sea views beyond, go for one of the Pool Wing rooms.
Or if a secluded hideaway is what you’re after, a Beach room is your private luxury, or to be fully immersed in the gorgeous nature around the resort centered around the serene lily lagoon, it’s the Hayman Wing.
The four main restaurants on the island are beautiful, with world-class chefs creating flavours, ambiance and menus, from authentic Italian at Amici to modern Asian at Bamboo to contemporary Australian at Fire, and then for more relaxed evening dining, opt for poolside Aquazure or Bar Fifty.
If you are there to celebrate a special occasion or want to treat someone special, you can also arrange a romantic Under The Stars private dining experience or Gourmet Picnic on the beach or at a rainforest location…
Staying at the One & Only Hayman Island really is something you don’t get to experience everyday and I feel fortunate to have experienced for myself why it is among the top hotels in Australia and the world*.
