[Hostel Review]: Arts Factory Lodge

If you’re heading to the beautiful Byron Bay on your travels around Australia and looking for a chilled out, secluded hostel with an easy-going hippy vibe, then the Arts Factory Lodge couldn’t be a more perfect choice. This hostel is like a tiny backpacker village in a jungle environment.

Ever so slightly out of town and the beach (still a 10 minute walk) and set in beautiful lush grounds with a lively outdoor pool as its centrepiece, the hostel has everything you could want from a hostel…Its own coffee shop and snack bar selling everything from fresh juices and smoothies to amazing coffee to healthy toasties, wraps and pancakes, to classic Aussie brunches and full English breakfasts, a large social living area with wifi, benches, sofas and pool tables, and a great reception with friendly staff where you can book all your trips and tours!

As for its accommodation, this is what puts the Arts Factory Lodge apart from the others. As well as the standard dorms of varying sizes, you can choose to stay in their gorgeous authentic teepees, tents and outdoor cabins, located just up the path from the pool and in quiet, leafy surroundings.

In-between all the inevitable beach time, browsing of the gorgeous markets and shops in town and sampling of the cute cafes and restaurants around Byron, there is still plenty to do back at the hostel. Choose from daily beginners yoga classes, didgeridoo lessons, bush nature walks around the grounds and you can even get hair braids and henna tattoos and buy gorgeous handmade jewellery on site! And most of the classes are by donation only so it’s not going to break the bank – which is great for backpackers or budget travellers.

And if you’ve ever watched the Inbetweeners 2 movie, this is your little claim to fame as this is where part of the film is set!
